Taiwan Launches “Go Healthy with Taiwan” Global Challenge to Inspire Innovative Healthcare Solutions

Taiwan Launches “Go Healthy with Taiwan” Global Challenge to Inspire Innovative Healthcare Solutions

03/06/2025Đô Nguyễn4 Mins Read

The “Go Healthy with Taiwan” initiative invites global participants to propose innovative ideas that combine local needs with Taiwan’s cutting-edge healthcare technologies to build a healthier world.

To elevate the global profile of Taiwan’s healthcare industry and encourage cross-border collaboration, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) of Taiwan, through the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT), has commissioned the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) to launch the global initiative “Go Healthy with Taiwan”. This campaign invites governments, organizations, businesses, and individuals worldwide to join forces in creating innovative ideas that leverage Taiwan’s advanced healthcare solutions to improve public health in cities, communities, and workplaces around the world.

Deputy Director-General of the International Trade Administration (TITA), Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ms. Susan Hu, highlighted that President Lai is actively pursuing the vision of building a “Healthy Taiwan” through strategic policies such as the “Healthy Taiwan Plan” and the development of six key industrial sectors. In particular, the eastern region of Taiwan is being developed into a model for “slow-living towns and villages,” integrating medical services with wellness and tourism experiences.

The “Go Healthy with Taiwan” initiative represents a major step toward this national vision, aiming to unite global minds and resources in shaping a healthier, more sustainable future. At the same time, the MOEA is promoting the “Border Within the Island” strategy to attract neighboring countries to participate in exhibitions, trade, and consumer activities in Taiwan. International trade shows in Taiwan will also include dedicated areas for health screenings, wellness services, and beauty care, drawing attention from overseas visitors.

According to Mr. Joe Chou, Executive Vice President of TAITRA, the global call for proposals will provide the world with greater insight into Taiwan’s capabilities in the healthcare sector. It also presents a valuable opportunity to connect like-minded individuals and organizations who share a passion for innovation and enhancing the quality of life through Taiwanese technologies and services.

The program’s launch event embraced a sports theme under the slogan “Taiwan’s Best Pitch – A Home Run for Proposals!” with a venue styled as a baseball stadium. Taiwanese baseball star Lin An-Ko and Taiwan Excellence’s mascot “Bear-i” made special appearances to energize the crowd. Lin delivered a symbolic home run hit to represent Taiwan’s ambition of taking its top-tier healthcare solutions to the global stage and inspiring cross-border innovation.

Lin delivered a symbolic home run hit to represent Taiwan’s ambition of taking its top-tier healthcare solutions to the global stage and inspiring cross-border innovation.

The event was attended by key figures from various industry associations, including Mr. Wu Ying-Chin (Chairman, Taiwan Bicycle Exporters’ Association), Mr. Chen Sui-Jung (Chairman, Taiwan Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association), and Mr. Huang Shih-Hsiu (Chairman, Taiwan Medical and Biotech Industry Association), along with representatives from 12 international media outlets and foreign diplomatic missions in Taiwan.

This year’s challenge focuses on Taiwan’s core strengths such as smart healthcare, wellness and beauty services, medical check-ups, sports and fitness technologies, and the cycling industry—an area that has earned Taiwan the title of “Bicycle Kingdom.” Taiwanese companies in this sector are not only known for their strong R&D but are also moving toward carbon reduction and sustainability. They are also leading globally in AI-powered sports equipment manufacturing.

In the realm of smart healthcare, Taiwan harnesses its excellence in information technology, semiconductors, and professional talent to develop innovative and sustainable healthcare ecosystems that deliver cutting-edge solutions and services.

Following the success of last year’s “Go Green with Taiwan” campaign—which attracted 396 proposals from 45 countries—this year’s “Go Healthy with Taiwan” aims to receive over 500 submissions from all five continents. The top three winning proposals will each receive a prize of USD 30,000. Additionally, outstanding ideas may be connected with Taiwanese enterprises for potential commercialization and further development.

The competition is open for submissions from May 15 to August 14, 2025.
