Apple has begun rolling out iOS 27 alongside watchOS 27, iPadOS 27, and visionOS 27, with a redesigned Siri powered by AI emerging as the headline feature across its latest software updates.
Apple is making iOS 27 available today for supported iPhone models, accompanied by new software for the Apple Watch, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro. Across these platforms, the most significant change is Siri AI, which brings a substantially revamped experience to Apple’s virtual assistant.
Siri AI is launching in beta initially for devices configured in English. Apple says support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish will follow in October, expanding access to the updated assistant beyond English-speaking users.
The new Siri experience is not the only major change in iOS 27. Apple is also giving users greater control over the Liquid Glass interface with a new opacity slider. The setting allows users to choose between a more transparent appearance and a more subdued, frosted look.
Several built-in applications have also received refreshed icons, featuring subtle color adjustments. Apple is further expanding widget options with extra-large sizes, while introducing more granular volume controls for ringtones, alarms, timers, alerts, and system sounds.
For Apple Watch users, watchOS 27 introduces additional capabilities for Workout Buddy, a new tap-based gesture, refinements to the Liquid Glass interface, and more contextual Smart Stack suggestions. Apple has also enhanced the Find My experience to make locating devices and other items more convenient.
iPadOS 27 brings a number of performance and connectivity improvements. Apple says file transfers between an iPad and external drives are now faster, while web browsing has also been optimized. The operating system is designed to provide smoother transitions when switching between Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity.
Apple Vision Pro users receive the Siri AI upgrade through visionOS 27, along with several changes to the spatial computing experience. Users can preview notifications with their eyes, while Control Center receives interface improvements. Apple has also enhanced Wi-Fi connectivity and added the ability to turn user-captured panoramic photos into immersive scenes and environments.
iOS 27 is compatible with the iPhone 11 and later, as well as the second-generation iPhone SE and newer models. On the Apple Watch, watchOS 27 supports Apple Watch SE 3, Apple Watch Series 9 and later, and Apple Watch Ultra 2 and later.
For iPadOS 27, compatibility includes the fourth-generation iPad Pro and newer models, as well as iPad Pro models equipped with the M1 chip or later. The update also supports the fourth-generation iPad Air and later, M2-equipped iPad Air models and newer, the sixth-generation iPad mini and A17 Pro models, and the ninth-generation iPad and later, including models powered by the A16 chip.
With Siri AI now extending across iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro, Apple is taking a broader approach to integrating AI into its software ecosystem. The initial beta release and limited language availability indicate that the company is rolling out the new Siri experience in stages, making it one of the most closely watched elements of Apple’s latest operating-system generation.
