The Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) and Temix Group have announced the establishment of the Vietnam – Italy Space Technology Center (VISTC), expanding bilateral cooperation in space technology, aerospace systems, telecommunications and aviation electronics.
In Hanoi, PTIT and Temix Group officially announced the establishment of the Vietnam – Italy Space Technology Center (VISTC), a joint research and development platform co-founded by the two organizations.
Based at PTIT, VISTC builds on the existing Temix mmWave Systems – PTIT Advanced Design Center and is designed to expand cooperation beyond technology design into research, advanced training and industrial development. The center will focus on space technology, aerospace systems, telecommunications and aviation electronics, while connecting Vietnamese research capabilities with Temix’s industrial expertise and an international network of researchers and technology partners.
The launch took place alongside the first anniversary of the Temix mmWave Systems – PTIT Advanced Design Center and the 60th anniversary of the Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications (RIPT). The two organizations also signed their second Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), establishing a framework for the next phase of cooperation.

The event was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Hoai Bac, President of PTIT, representatives of Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology, and delegates from research institutions, universities and the technology industry. During the ceremony, RIPT was also presented with the Third-Class Labor Medal in recognition of its contributions.
From an advanced design center to a broader R&D platform
The Temix mmWave Systems – PTIT Advanced Design Center was established on September 4, 2025, following a cooperation agreement signed at the Vietnam-Italy Business Forum in Hanoi. The center was initially established to strengthen multidisciplinary research and design capabilities in telecommunications and aerospace, while providing advanced technology design services to organizations and businesses across Asia and the Middle East.
After its first year of operation, the center has developed research and development infrastructure supporting product development, scientific research and technical training. Its workforce now includes more than 30 engineers, master’s degree holders and PhDs working on technology development projects.
The center has also been involved in the development of high-tech products and systems, including equipment for satellite communications, Software-Defined Communication systems, electronic and computing systems, and specialized radio equipment designed for aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, satellites and ground-based platforms.
Research activities have been integrated with PTIT’s academic programs. The center currently supports three doctoral researchers, five master’s students working toward doctoral dissertations and two master’s students. Its experts also participate in supervising research projects, master’s theses and doctoral dissertations, alongside a range of scientific publications.
VISTC targets space and aerospace technologies
Building on these capabilities, the Vietnam – Italy Space Technology Center is intended to operate as an open international research platform. PTIT and Temix plan to connect VISTC with universities, research institutes, technology companies and experts from Vietnam, Italy and other countries.
The center aims to attract engineers, scientists, students, graduate students, doctoral researchers and postdoctoral researchers to work on advanced technology challenges. By bringing academic research and industrial expertise into a common framework, the initiative is also intended to create closer links between research outcomes, product development and industry requirements.
According to PTIT and Temix, the initiative aligns with Vietnam’s broader priorities in science, technology and digital transformation, including the development of domestic capabilities in satellite and space-related technologies.

For Italy, the center provides a platform for strengthening industrial and technological engagement in Asia, particularly through research collaboration and technology transfer.
The establishment of VISTC also builds on a longer history of cooperation between PTIT and Temix in research and education. Previous initiatives have included scholarship programs supporting Vietnamese students pursuing advanced telecommunications engineering programs in Italy.
Connecting research, industry and talent
Armando Caravella, Founder and Chairman of Temix Group, said the new center represents an expansion of the partnership from an advanced design facility into a broader platform for space technology research, industrial development and specialized training.
He said the collaboration is intended to combine Vietnam’s academic capabilities with Temix’s industrial experience in electronics for space applications, while developing both skilled human resources and technology products in Vietnam.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Hoai Bac, President of PTIT, said cooperation with Temix provides a link between research, education and industry. He expects the new center to strengthen PTIT’s capabilities in advanced technology R&D, attract international expertise and resources, and support the development of high-quality talent for Vietnam’s growing space technology and aerospace sectors.
With the launch of VISTC, the partnership between PTIT and Temix enters a broader phase, moving from advanced technology design toward an integrated model covering research, product development, international collaboration and specialized training. The center is expected to provide a platform for Vietnamese and Italian researchers and engineers to work together on technologies serving the increasingly interconnected fields of space, telecommunications and aerospace./.
