Samsung has started rolling out its Android 17-based One UI 9 update to select Galaxy S26 devices in the U.S., while stable builds for several Galaxy A, Galaxy S and foldable models indicate that a broader release could be approaching.
Samsung has begun delivering One UI 9 to Galaxy S26 owners after several changes to its previously announced rollout schedule. The update is currently appearing on selected Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra devices in the U.S., although availability remains limited by device and carrier.
One UI 9 Reaches Select Galaxy S26 Devices
Reports from Galaxy users indicate that One UI 9 is now available for some Galaxy S26-series smartphones connected to T-Mobile in the U.S. The Android 17-based package is approximately 4GB in size and introduces a range of new features and system improvements.
The update has not yet reached every Galaxy S26 owner. Unlocked versions, in particular, do not appear to be receiving the software at the same time, suggesting that Samsung is using a phased rollout rather than making the update immediately available to all eligible devices.
The latest development follows a series of changes to Samsung’s One UI 9 schedule. The company initially released the stable version in South Korea on September 16 before indicating that another wave would follow on September 21. That date passed without a broad release, while a subsequent September 28 target was also removed from Samsung’s regional communications.
Samsung’s Thailand newsroom later described the update as arriving within September without specifying a particular day. The appearance of the software on Galaxy S26 devices in the U.S. now suggests that the wider deployment is finally moving forward.
Galaxy A Series Could Be Next
Samsung is also preparing One UI 9 for a much broader selection of Galaxy A smartphones. Stable builds have reportedly surfaced for models including the Galaxy A57, A37, A56, A36, A55, A35 and A34.
The Galaxy A34 is particularly notable because it was not included in the One UI 9 beta program. The appearance of a stable build for the older model suggests that Samsung may already be close to releasing the finished software to a wider range of Galaxy A owners.
The Galaxy A family represents a significantly larger user base than Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S lineup. Bringing One UI 9 to these devices would therefore mark a substantial expansion of the company’s Android 17 rollout.
Stable builds for the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S24 have also recently been identified, adding to signs that Samsung is moving toward a broader public release rather than continuing with limited testing.
New Features Coming With One UI 9
One UI 9 introduces several new features built around Android 17, including My FanCam, Now Nudge, Warranty and Care, Security Brief and expanded Scam Detection capabilities.
Owners of the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy Z Fold7 who participated in the beta program have already been able to test many of these additions. Other users, however, are still waiting for the stable release to arrive on their devices.
Not every Galaxy smartphone will necessarily receive the complete One UI 9 feature set. Samsung typically adjusts software features according to hardware capabilities, meaning some AI-powered functions could be limited on Galaxy A models depending on their processors and available memory.
The flagship Galaxy S series and newer foldable smartphones are expected to receive a more comprehensive selection of One UI 9 features. Some major Android 17 capabilities may nevertheless remain unavailable depending on Samsung’s implementation and device compatibility.
Wider Rollout Could Begin Soon
Samsung has not publicly provided a detailed explanation for the delays surrounding One UI 9. However, the growing number of stable builds appearing for different Galaxy models suggests that development is largely complete and that the remaining work may involve staged distribution across devices, carriers and regions.
If Samsung maintains its latest timeline, Galaxy S26 owners in additional markets, along with users of the Galaxy S25, Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7, could begin receiving One UI 9 before the end of September.
The actual arrival date will vary by model, region, carrier and software variant. Owners can check for the update through Settings > Software update > Download and install on supported Galaxy devices.
