Samsung is rumored to introduce a new Galaxy S27 Pro alongside its standard, Plus, and Ultra models in 2027. Despite featuring a smaller display than the Plus variant, the Pro could offer a larger battery, 60W fast charging, Privacy Display technology, and a camera system approaching the capabilities of the Galaxy S27 Ultra.
Samsung may be preparing a significant change to its flagship smartphone strategy with the upcoming Galaxy S27 lineup. Following reports of an expanded Galaxy Z series, several leaks suggest that the company’s 2027 flagship family could include four models: the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, Galaxy S27 Ultra, and a new device tentatively called the Galaxy S27 Pro.
The potential addition raises questions about how Samsung intends to position the Pro model within its product lineup. Rather than simply sitting between the standard and Plus versions, the device could borrow several high-end features from the Ultra, making it a more premium alternative for users who prefer a relatively compact smartphone.
A Smaller Display With Potentially Better Hardware
According to current rumors, the Galaxy S27 Pro could feature a 6.47-inch display, making it smaller than the expected 6.7-inch panel on the Galaxy S27+ and the 6.9-inch screen reportedly planned for the Galaxy S27 Ultra.
However, its smaller size may not mean a lower hardware specification. Leaks suggest the Galaxy S27 Pro could feature a 5,200mAh battery, compared with an estimated 4,900mAh capacity for the Galaxy S27+.
If accurate, this would give the Pro model a larger battery despite its more compact dimensions. The device is also rumored to support 60W wired charging, potentially exceeding the 45W charging capability expected on the Plus variant.
Another potentially significant addition is Samsung’s Privacy Display technology. The feature is reportedly being considered for the Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra, while the standard and Plus models may not receive it. Privacy Display is designed to restrict screen visibility from certain viewing angles, helping protect sensitive information from people nearby.

Camera Specifications Could Approach the Ultra
Photography could be another area where the Galaxy S27 Pro distinguishes itself from the Plus model.
According to early leaks, the device may feature a triple-camera system consisting of a 200MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
The rumored telephoto camera could share hardware with the 12MP 3x zoom sensor used in the Galaxy S26 Ultra. If Samsung adopts this configuration, the Pro model could deliver a more versatile photography experience than typically expected from a non-Ultra flagship.
The front-facing camera may also receive an upgrade to 16MP, matching the rumored selfie camera specification of the Galaxy S27 Ultra. This would represent an improvement over the 12MP front camera found on previous Galaxy S models.
Connectivity could further separate the Pro from the Plus. Samsung is rumored to retain Ultra-Wideband (UWB) support on the Galaxy S27 Pro, while potentially removing the technology from the Galaxy S27+. UWB enables more precise short-range positioning and interactions with compatible devices.
A Distinctive Design for the Pro and Ultra Models
The differences between Samsung’s flagship models may also extend to their exterior design.
Early design leaks suggest the standard Galaxy S27 and S27+ could retain a vertically arranged camera layout similar to previous generations. In contrast, the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra may adopt a redesigned camera housing that stretches across much of the rear panel.
This approach could give the two premium models a more distinctive appearance while establishing a clearer visual separation from the entry-level flagship variants.
Nevertheless, some of the rumored specifications deserve more caution than others. The potential 16MP selfie camera upgrade is among the more plausible details, while the idea of fitting a 5,200mAh battery into a smaller device than the Galaxy S27+ remains less convincing.
One possible explanation is that the redesigned camera housing could provide additional internal space for component placement. Another theory concerns battery technology, as earlier rumors suggest Samsung may not use silicon-carbon batteries in the standard and Plus models.
For now, these details remain unconfirmed, and Samsung has yet to comment on the reported Galaxy S27 lineup.
The Galaxy S27 series is expected to debut in January or February 2027. If the current leaks prove accurate, the Galaxy S27 Pro could occupy an interesting position in Samsung’s flagship portfolio, combining several Ultra-level features with a smaller form factor for users who do not necessarily want the largest smartphone in the lineup.
