TORONTO, Sept. 03, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Opti9 Technologies LLC (“Opti9”), a leading North American cloud, data protection, cybersecurity and managed services provider, today announced that it has acquired Hut 8’s Canadian managed cloud business.
The transaction includes Hut 8’s traditional managed cloud services business in Canada, with 10 team members transitioning to Opti9. Hut 8 will retain ownership of its Canadian data centers and continue operating its graphics processing unit (GPU) and high-performance computing (HPC) business. As part of the transaction, Opti9 and Hut 8 have entered into a multi-year colocation agreement under which Opti9 will continue to operate the acquired cloud infrastructure at Hut 8’s Canadian data centers. The acquisition builds on Opti9’s 15-year history serving Canadian organizations and further strengthens its established cloud platform and presence in Canada. Customers of the acquired managed cloud business will gain access to Opti9’s broader technology platform and experienced team, expanding the resources and capabilities available to support their evolving technology needs.
The acquisition will expand Opti9’s managed cloud presence across additional Canadian data center locations, providing greater geographic flexibility for its channel partners and customers. The expanded footprint will provide greater flexibility to address customer requirements for workload location, data residency, resiliency and disaster recovery within Canada.
Through a deep bench of technical and operational resources and leading technology partnerships, Opti9 operates infrastructure across 13 data centers globally and delivers an integrated portfolio spanning private, public and hybrid cloud, data protection and disaster recovery, cybersecurity, compliance and managed technology services. This breadth combines infrastructure, technology expertise and operational resources to help customers and partners manage increasingly complex IT environments while maintaining performance, security, resilience and compliance.
TJ Houske, CEO of Opti9, said, “Canada has been an important part of Opti9’s business for 15 years, and this acquisition represents a meaningful expansion of our long-term commitment to the Canadian market. As we look ahead, M&A will continue to be an important part of our growth strategy as we expand our geographic footprint, customer base and capabilities. This acquisition strengthens the platform available to our channel partners and their customers while providing Hut 8 customers access to Opti9’s broader capabilities across cloud, data protection, cybersecurity, compliance and managed services. Most importantly, we are excited to welcome Hut 8’s Canadian managed cloud customers and employees to Opti9 and look forward to building on the strong foundation they have established.”
